Talking therapies are treatments which involve talking openly to a trained professional about your mental and emotional problems such as  stress, anxiety and depression. Exploring your thoughts, feelings and behaviour can help you to process  your issues and emotions and  clearly understand them. These talking therapies include counselling and psychotherapy.

Counselling can be a short or long term treatment which focuses on what’s happening to clients in the present e.g. a traumatic event, job loss, relationship break down, difficulties at work/school/home or just feeling more anxious or stressed than usual. Clients choose what to bring to sessions then discussions form the basis of the counselling process exploring: causes of the problem; the impact of the problem; the client’s feelings; options available to the client and the best option for the client.

Psychotherapy involves working with clients for a longer-term and is often more in-depth gaining greater insight into emotional issues and difficulties.  A safe space is created for clients to feel comfortable to open up fully and share past experiences enabling buried emotions and experiences to surface such that they can be fully processed and released. 

As an integrative Counsellor and Psychotherapist  I use techniques and tools from different modalities to tailor an individual approach for each client working in a supportive, non-judgmental manner to help you make sense of your emotions and experiences, create positive changes in your life and improve your mental wellbeing. Good quality counselling is extremely effective in helping you to fully embrace life and regain hope to move forward confidently. It can also lead to personal growth and you will gain some important techniques to help you cope with future challenges.
